No, but you should be comfortable swimming in open water. A basic level of swimming ability is recommended for safety and enjoyment.
What kind of whales will we see on this trip?
Mauritius is one of the few places in the world where you can encounter sperm whales year-round. These ocean giants are the most commonly sighted species, especially off the island’s west coast. Depending on the season, you might also spot humpback whales during their annual migration (typically June to October), along with occasional sightings of pilot whales and other marine life like dolphins and flying fish.
Is it guaranteed that we will see whales?
While we plan our boat trips based on the best possible conditions and known whale locations, sightings are not 100% guaranteed, as these are wild animals. However, our expert guides have a high success rate in finding them.
Will we also see dolphins?
Yes! Part of the itinerary includes an encounter with playful dolphins in their natural habitat near Le Morne.
What should I bring for the trip?
Essentials include a swimsuit, sunscreen (reef-safe), a hat, sunglasses, comfortable walking shoes for the hike, and a waterproof camera if you want to capture the experience.
Do I need to bring my own snorkeling gear?
No, we provide masks, fins, and weights for the whale encounters. However, if you have personal gear you prefer, feel free to bring it.
What kind of food is included?
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included daily. Meals feature a mix of local Mauritian cuisine and international dishes, with vegetarian and special dietary options available upon request.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Safety is our top priority. If a boat day is canceled due to bad weather, we will try to reschedule or offer an alternative activity where possible.
Can I book extra activities on my free day?
Yes! You can use your free day or any other day to explore more of Mauritius. Our team can assist with recommendations and bookings.
